「困難を避けるな　困難は君のチャンスだ」

【解説】

俳優の森繁久弥さんの言葉です。「近頃、困難を避けることが多く、それが見えるとやりきれない気がします。まっすぐに、直角にどかんとぶつかってゆく己(おのれ)をいとおしく思うのです。そして、その苦しみの中から生まれる新しい可能性に自分を太らせて行きたいと思うのです。」と続きます。新入生の皆さん、新しい環境の中で、困難なこともあるでしょうが、それを乗り越える力を身につけてください。そして、新しい可能性を見出して欲しいと思います。
仏教では次のように考えます。生きていればいろいろな試練や苦難に遭遇します。この試練や苦難を受け入れず、愚痴をこぼし逃げたり、逆らうと高い壁になります。いつまでも乗り越えることは出来ません。まずは受け入れるべきです。辛く苦しいでしょうが自分に与えられたものとしてそのまま受け入れるべきです。そこから気づくこと、見えてくることがあります。悲しみや苦しみを通して、今まで見えなかったことが見えてくることがあります。受け入れてそこに置けば、その試練や苦難を乗り越えていく踏み台となるのです。『仏説無量寿経』の中に、「身自ら之を当(う)け、代わる者有ること無し」という言葉があります。誰も変わることは出来ないのです。親が｢代われるものなら代わってやりたい」と思っていても、代わることは出来ないのです。
